Hi all. Specifically, in this review I will not go into detail about each criterion. I’ll just talk about the whole process of the text, and at the very end I’ll give final ratings.

Everything said below is my personal opinion. It can and should be discussed in the comments, but without insults and within the bounds of decency.

I’ll start with the history of getting to know the original and gradually move on to the remake.

To do this, you will have to go back to the glorious year 2013, when we were all younger, the grass was greener, and the dollar cost about 30 rubles… And I decided to buy a ps3, precisely for the passage of The Last of Us, and for GTA5. Only cunning and economical, I decided to buy not a simple PS3, but a stitched one. That is, the one on which you could pirate games.

Piracy is bad, I don’t support it in any way

Having found an offer on Avito for the sale of this + external hdd with games, for only 13,500 rubles (yes, I still remember that same price), I rushed after it to the other end of the city through all the traffic jams.

I arrived, an ordinary residential building, I go into the entrance. On the floor right in front of the garbage chute there was a TV that showed the state of copying my future games on the hdd. This guy settled in, and the neighbors weren’t even against it 🙂

The seller himself looked more like a Rastafarian; in fact, he felt quite stoned. But quite adequately he gave me my console, showed me and told me how to use the firmware version of the PS3.

Photo from the Internet, this is what the library of games on a flashed PS3 looks like, although mine was slightly different in appearance and natural content.

I paid and rushed https://winziecasino.co.uk/bonus/ home. Two hours of terrible traffic jams and now I connect the set-top box to the TV and launch the coveted The Last of Us. I start playing, well, as soon as I start, I wait for a very long time to load. After about 10 minutes I was completely immersed in this masterpiece, without exaggeration.

Although in 2013, after the PC, the graphics on the ps3 no longer looked so great. But somehow I didn’t pay attention, because the story was absorbing. The graphics squeezed all the last juice out of the old lady, but it was noticeable that such a game would be extremely difficult to work on such a weak system. But in some places the graph showed very decent effects, character animation, and in general did not cause very bad impressions of the graphics.

Ellie on PC 2023

So I finished the original, literally in one breath. Then the game left the most positive emotions. But there was no desire to replay her.

But nevertheless, a few years later, I replayed it again on the new PS4 pro in the remastered version (of course clearing my karma by purchasing a license). Once again I had a great experience playing the game. The graphic has become more toned, there is less soap, the textures are clearer. A completely justified re-release of the game, in my opinion.

And now 2022, Sony has decided to pull off its win-win trick again and is re-releasing the same game on PS5, but with a remake added and of course for full price.

But there is never too much money. In March 2023, the PC version of the game will be released, also at full price, but with horse system requirements and a bunch of bugs.

But is this a remake?? If you turn to Wikipedia, here is a brief explanation from there:

Release of new versions of existing works of art with modifications and adding their own characteristics to them. Most often used in music, video games, film and television. The remake does not quote or parody the source, but fills it with new and relevant content, but “with an eye on” the sample. Can repeat the plot moves of the original, types of characters, but at the same time depict them in new historical, socio-political conditions.

Very representative remakes are Resident Evil 2 and 3, Mafia 1 and, of course, the very fresh Resident Evil 4.

What do we have here?? Absolutely the same game, but with new graphics. In my humble opinion, the cunning Sonya, with her inherent oriental cunning, simply changed the concepts.

Of course, every object and building was worked on and reworked on the game, new animations and redrawn characters. And what exactly new did we get that would complement the world or lore?? Personally, I didn’t notice anything. No plot twists or intrigues. No desire to cry out, “But it wasn’t like that before.”!"in the good or bad sense of the word, does not arise.

Yes, the picture is beautiful. After a couple of patches and days after release, the game became quite playable. But how infuriating was the first launch with an HOUR-LONG wait for shaders to compile?. I was always amazed by such moments at the releases of large projects. How do they test them and what is the secret for me?.

At the same time, the game doesn’t even have the ill-fated denuvo (protection against piracy), which would eat up PC resources. I had crashes and freezes. One time the game completely overloaded my video card so that the computer rebooted (PC-I9-9900k, 32gb ram and RTX 3090). During the entire playthrough, such critical crashes happened 4-5 times. FPS did not drop below 70. It’s funny that the game settings included full monitoring of the system load 🙂

I won’t discuss whether the game is worth that kind of money or not. Let everyone decide for themselves.

Personally, I didn’t regret buying the game on PC. Having completed the game again, I received the same pleasant emotions and impressions as before. Enjoyed the graphics, facial animation, effects, ray tracing and environmental detail. The plot still touches the soul, although it is simple and secondary. And the gameplay is enjoyable and not at all infuriating. The atmosphere of the zombie apocalypse is conveyed perfectly, where you feel the main danger is from people, and not from the infected.

As a result, 9.5/10, but with a big unpleasant aftertaste from deception in the positioning of the game. We got a remastered at maximum speed, but not a remake at all. And they named it that way just to sell it for more money. In general, marketing has won over art.

I will not underestimate the rating for this, since I repeat that everyone will decide for themselves whether it is expensive or cheap.
